Rainy Day Go To

NINE DAYS OF RAIN AHEAD!
Umbrellas up & throw on those hunters,
its going to be a long week

My rainy day go to outfit is pretty simple: black leggings, something comfortable from Ralph Lauren Rugby on top, knee high rain boots, and of course my staple pearl necklace and earrings. A trendy trench coat on top coupled with a designer umbrella to show off your sense of style, even in the rain, is key! I like to make sure on rainy days I am wearing a cute necklace and earrings, so even when I have my jacket on, I still have some sparkle. What is your go to rainy day outfit? Please share!Rainy Day Go To

Sailing into Summer

Sailing into Summer
Today's post is in honor of my first day of work yesterday with the yacht charter company I will be interning for as an event planning and marking associate. I had an amazing time at work and I am so excited for what the summer will bring. To add to my excitement, when I got home, the Summer 2011 Lilly Pulitzer catalogue was on the kitchen table! I feel like I was just looking at the spring patterns and they are already out with summer prints. How can a fashionista, or her bank account, possibly keep up!?

Considering the great day I had at work, my mind was on the ocean. The summer collection very much revolves around beach life with anchors, sailboats, shells, seagulls and the like. I absolutely love the whimsical pattern of Sail Away; it reminds me of Dr. Seuss in some ways. I wanted to make the Patty Dress an impulse purchase when I realized they won't be in stock until the end of May. Why do girls always want what they can't have?

Lilly Pulitzer Sail Away
I always say that accessories can make or break the outfit. A couple weeks ago, I saw one of my friends wearing lemony yellow TOM wedges. She had told me they are still in great condition after many years and lots of use, and are actually one of the most comfortable pairs of shoes she owns. This was music to my ears. Although I love a good heel, I rarely find a pair my feet actually thank me for wearing. Additionally, the wedge heel is a reasonable height and  much more practical for daily wear. I have been considering the possibility of buying a pair of these wedges from all of the great reviews, but haven't been able to decide on a color. Ultimately the black is the best multi-seasonal color, but the lemon and red are hard to resist. Although the sunny yellow gives the Lilly dress a calm and flirty look, the print would also look great with this bold pop of red, creating a more traditional preppy look.
Today is a beautiful day and perfect for this post! The other items featured in my above collection are featured below. How cute is the Marc Jacobs coin purse? The perfect nautical touch! I love the Polyvore website that makes putting together these collections so easy!

Tulip Tuesday

I have always loved brightly colored flowers, particularly the tulip. A couple of weeks ago when I was driving around Wellesley, I saw a house with two big ruby red beds of tulips. I was compelled to stop and snap a photo. This was only the beginning of my tulip adventures.

Since then, I have been seeing brightly colored tulips popping all over the place, causing a few almost near car accidents as I swerve around trying to get optimal viewing... kidding, sort of. I guess it IS true that April showers bring May flowers after all! I have become mesmerized by these flowers! They are able to make such a bold statement while maintaining a delicate nature simultaneously. This flower stands tall with their long green stems, setting themselves apart from other plants in a garden. Today I decided that I was going to start recording all the beautiful tulips I see all over, inspiring Tulip Tuesday. There is a potential this may become a weekly segment, depending on how often I get out on the town now that I've started working a full time internship; finding these tulips can take some extreme hunting. For certain look forward to more blogs on flowers!

Do you pass a patch of uncanning flowers daily? Send them in to alexandraglazer@verizon.net and you may be featured in a future blog post!

Here are some pictures from today's adventures that I snapped on my iPhone camera. Not bad quality for a phone camera! All pictures featured below are from Marblehead, MA.

Surprise at Treats!

SURPRISE!? No one has ever been able to pull off a surprise party for me ever... I guess you could say I am slightly... what's the word I'm looking for, investigative? On my birthday my boyfriend put together a cupcake party for me and my friends at Treat Cupcake Bar in Needham. I had always planned on going to the make your own cupcake shop, but never took the drive over so this was a first time for me.

Treat is a cupcake store that has the innovative idea of letting the customers create their own cupcakes. Although I did not go through the typical experience, from what I observed this is the process. When you arrive after you pick your cake flavor, you select a frosting, that they then add toppings of your choice rolled into the frosting and garnished on top. This is such a great idea because how can a customer go unhappy! The cupcakes are personalized to the client. Talk about customer intimacy. I apologize for all the buzz words, this is what studying for business classes does to me.

This may be the normal routine for a Treats customer, but the experience is slightly different with a birthday party. We got the opportunity to learn about and experiment with fondants, not my favorite but it was fun to play with. There was a large selection of brightly colored frostings  as well as toppings to choose from. In the end, all 10 of us got to walk away with six of our own cupcakes. Here are my creations!

If you are in the area and haven't been to Treat yet, get in the car and go, go, go!
